Washington DC Accommodations | Travel and Transportation in DC
Washington DC was designed by French city planner Pierre L'Enfant who comprised the city of circles, squares and radials to emulate the layout of Paris. When touring Washington keep in mind that the U.S. Capitol is the focal point that divides the city into four quadrants: Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest. Every address in Washington bears one of these quadrants, so it's important to know that before starting out for your destination.

Washington neighborhoods are unique in character and full of history and intrigue. Circles, parks, statues and landmarks pay tribute to persons and places of prominence in the history of our country and our city. Washington's role as a global power center is reflected by the cultural attributes and vitality of its neighborhoods.
